We build the technology that's powering Africa's shift to clean energy: smart meters, energy markets, and digital tools. Three subsidiaries, one mission: make it measurable, make it bankable, make it work.
Each of our subsidiaries tackles a different part of the puzzle. Together they work like a flywheel: meters produce data, data creates markets, and markets pay for more meters to go in.
Nigeria's first trademarked smart metering brand. Four certified KWM models, ranging from a single-phase import meter to a three-phase 4-quadrant bidirectional unit. Built for minigrid operators, DISCOs, and commercial solar users.
Visit Kawi Meters →Africa's B2B marketplace for I-RECs and carbon credits. We connect clean energy producers, including Kawi Meters net metering customers, with verified international buyers. I-RECs are issued automatically from meter data, so nothing gets wasted.
Visit Tavo Energy →A QR code platform that puts self-service right in your hand. Every Kawi meter ships with a QR code on it. Scan to check your balance, buy credit, or report a fault. No app, no smartphone needed. Also available as a standalone product.
Visit Tavo.to →Kawi Meters, a registered trademark of Tavo Technologies Ltd, is a smart prepaid metering brand built for the Nigerian market. We offer four certified models, including bidirectional net metering, and a MaaS subscription with a negotiated percentage on meter acquisition, designed to work for operators.
We're pursuing the NERC MAP licence so we can deploy meters across all 11 Nigerian DisCos at a negotiated percentage cost to them.
Africa's B2B marketplace for I-RECs and carbon credits. We connect clean energy producers with verified international buyers, cutting out middlemen and paperwork. I-RECs are issued automatically from meter data, so every kilowatt-hour you export becomes revenue.
Kawi Meters or partner meters stream export data to the cloud.
Tavo Energy verifies the data and issues I-RECs automatically.
Buyers, including utilities, corporates, and traders, purchase through our marketplace. You get paid. The planet wins.
Paystack + Stripe. Buyers pay in their currency. Sellers receive in theirs. We handle the rest.
A QR code platform that puts self-service right in your hand. Every Kawi meter ships with a QR code on it. Scan to check your balance, buy credit, or report a fault. No app download, no smartphone needed. Also available as a standalone B2B product for any business that needs offline-capable digital self-service.
Works on any phone with a camera. No app. No data plan required.
USSD fallback means every feature phone can still check balance and buy credit.
A standalone B2B product. Any utility or business can deploy it. No subscription, just pay per QR code.
Shipped with every Kawi meter. Ready as a standalone product for any utility, school, or community.
We're not just a metering company. We're building the full stack that makes Africa's energy transition real: measurable, bankable, and built to scale.
Every Kawi meter is certified and streams real-time data to the cloud. Whether you're a minigrid operator, DISCO, or solar prosumer, you get accurate, verifiable numbers on every kilowatt.
If your meters show you're exporting clean power, Tavo Energy turns that into I-RECs and carbon credits. Climate finance revenue, generated automatically from data your meters already collect.
Every Kawi meter comes with a Tavo.to QR code. Scan it to check your balance, top up, or report a fault. No app download. No smartphone required. Just works.
From day one, we built for Africa, not just Nigeria. Our platform handles six countries, multiple currencies and regulators, and speaks English, French, and Swahili.
We're going after the NERC MAP licence so we can put meters in across all 11 Nigerian DisCos at a negotiated percentage cost to them.
Kawi Meters is a registered trademark, the first smart metering brand trademarked in Nigeria, for Nigeria. Built here, for here.
Every Tavo subsidiary is designed to work in the places where Africa's energy transition is happening, from dense markets to planned estates.
High-density commercial zones with many small vendors. Kawi Meters + Tavo.to QR let each shop self-serve, buying credit by scanning a code with no app needed. Operators get real-time revenue data per connection.
Multi-unit properties where centralised vending and per-unit billing matter. KWM-1P meters with automated disconnect for non-payment. Tavo Energy can issue I-RECs from any solar backfeed in the estate.
Commercial and industrial sites with solar. The KWM-1P-NM bidirectional meter measures both consumption and export. Export data flows into Tavo Energy for automatic I-REC issuance and carbon credit sales.
Off-grid and weak-grid communities where reliable metering is scarce. Low-power Kawi Meters with GSM+LoRa connectivity. Tavo.to USSD fallback works on any feature phone, with no smartphone or data plan needed.
These are the segments we're built for: minigrid operators, estate managers, commercial solar users, and DISCOs across Nigeria and beyond.
Real-time visibility into every connection. Kawi Meters with Tavo.to QR means tenants self-serve, revenue collection stays above 95%, and you get accurate data for reporting and I-REC issuance.
Centralised vending, automatic disconnections for non-payment, and per-unit consumption data. No chasing tenants. No estimated bills. No disputes.
Bidirectional net metering that measures what you export. Tavo Energy converts that data into I-RECs and carbon credits automatically, turning it into climate finance revenue from your existing solar investment.
We partner with leading energy companies, technology providers, and development finance institutions across Africa.

Everything you need to know about working with Tavo Technologies.
A MAP is a NERC-licensed company that finances, installs, and manages electricity meters on behalf of a Distribution Company (DisCo). We recover our investment through the vending markup over the meter's lifespan, so the customer pays nothing upfront.
Under MaaS, meter acquisition is financed through a negotiated percentage rather than a flat upfront cost. We agree this with each operator based on deployment scale. We install the meters, handle maintenance, and provide the vending infrastructure. Standard MaaS fees still apply: we earn a small margin on each token sold. You get accurate billing, real-time data, and predictable costs.
Kawi Meters are STS-certified and DLMS/COSEM compliant, meaning they work with any DisCo's vending system. We're pursuing our NERC MAP licence so we can deploy across all 11 Nigerian DisCos.
If your meters show you're exporting clean power (solar, hydro, etc.), Tavo Energy automatically verifies the data, issues International Renewable Energy Certificates, and lists them on our marketplace. Buyers purchase them, and you receive payment. No paperwork, no middlemen.
Yes. Every Tavo.to QR code has a USSD fallback. Any feature phone can dial the USSD code displayed on the meter, check the balance, and buy credit. No app, no data plan required.
We're raising to scale our metering deployment, expand the I-REC marketplace, and take Tavo.to across Africa.
